Technical Design Lead

Design Team Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of the organization’s design system, overseeing its development, evolution, and maintenance.
  • Continuously expand the design system by adding new components, patterns, and guidelines to ensure it remains comprehensive and up-to-date.
  • Define and establish design system processes that the design team adheres to, ensuring a consistent and efficient workflow for design system integration.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers and product managers, to streamline the integration of design components and principles into the product development lifecycle.
  • Educate and train design team members on how to effectively use and contribute to the design system.
  • Align design system initiatives with the overall product strategy.

Agile Production Team Responsibilities:

  • Create production designs for team-specific product work.
  • Create, collaborate, and iterate on flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity visuals.
  • Conduct feasibility reviews, research sessions, and usability testing and present findings.

Your qualities and experience

  • Several years of experience as an in-house UI/UX/Product Designer on a complex, enterprise or B2B SaaS product.
  • Multiple years of experience updating and maintaining style guides and component libraries in Figma.
  • Works at a high standard of creativity, curiosity, craft, and quality.
  • Mentors and supports junior colleagues with knowledge, humility, and encouragement.
  • Leverages prototyping skills to demystify designs for other teams, especially in cases where interactions may be particularly nuanced.
  • Highly proficient in Figma variables
  • Comfortable leading design for large projects and driving understanding from cross-team colleagues.

Nice to have

  • Experience designing data-heavy applications in the Finance, Energy or Sustainability industries.
  • Prior experience in a startup environment.

Location: Boulder, CO preferred; remote considered

Position: Full-time

Salary: $134,000 – $157,000 plus bonus and option for equity
