About the Job

This is a position that requires a deep understanding of scientific principles and management of scientific problems such that they can lead a team to achieve success on complex projects.

How You'll Make An Impact

  • Follow work instructions and properly document work forms as per Good Laboratory Practices. Use professional judgment to determine if new documents are required or existing ones need to be updated. This may include high level documents such as product requirements or risk analysis that involve cross-functional teams.
  • Brings a set of skills to Visby in quantitative chemical processes applied to biolgical problems typically found in academic disciplines of chemical engineering, bio-engineering or physical chemistry.
  • Possess a strong ability to properly interpret experimental results and can independently make adjustments to experiments and/or studies as needed. Provide input to other experiments and/or studies.
  • May provide expert opinion on new lab techniques and equipment.
  • Take ownership of a study or series of studies that requires extensive knowledge and the participation of cross-functional groups.
  • Maps out projects, sub-projects, and resources, and effectively communicates conclusions and plans to senior staff.
  • Use external resources, publications, and technical knowledge to anticipate or solve complex problems. Ensure that problems encountered by the team are identified, understood, and solved.
  • Provide technical guidance and is responsible for professional development of team members. Expected to be able to lead a team with some time of adjustment to Visby.
  • Make major contributions to scientific literature and conferences. Participate in the initiation and development of patent applications. Coordinate with external vendors on technical projects.

On your first day we'd like you to have

  • B.S., M.S. and/or Ph.D.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree; minimum of 4 years with a Master's degree or Ph.D. with some experience preferred.

It's great if you have

  • Proficient in basic laboratory skills and possess a strong knowledge for working with complex laboratory equipment and new product.
  • Expertise and knowledge of advanced principles in physical chemistry, chemical engineering, bioengineering or equivalent.

Salary range:

  • $110,546 - $138,182 (Salary range for candidates based in San Jose, CA)
  • Compensation for the role is based on geographical location.
  • Compensation also depends on a number of factors including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
