About the Role:
The Sr Global Sourcing Manager, Device Chemistry will be a key strategic leader responsible for developing and executing global sourcing strategies for chemistry-based components and reagents used in diagnostic platforms. This role will drive supplier innovation, optimize costs, mitigate supply risk, and ensure robust business continuity across R&D, clinical, and commercial operations. The ideal candidate brings deep chemistry domain knowledge, contract negotiation expertise, and a strong track record of influencing executive-level decisions in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
How You’ll Make An Impact
- Develop and own global commodity strategy for reagents and chemistry categories, including supplier segmentation, technology roadmaps, and supply risk mitigation.
- Lead supplier selection and qualification, leveraging technical expertise to evaluate and influence decisions in alignment with product and process requirements.
- Establish and negotiate master supply agreements (MSAs), statements of work (SOWs), and strategic partnerships to drive total cost of ownership (TCO) improvements.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Legal, and Manufacturing teams to align sourcing strategies with product lifecycle and business needs.
- Drive continuous cost reduction and process optimization initiatives, applying should-cost modeling, make-versus-buy analysis, and volume leverage tactics.
- Serve as the sourcing subject matter expert (SME) for chemistry commodities in executive reviews and cross-functional operations forums.
- Champion supplier performance management, including QBRs, KPI tracking, and escalation resolution.
- Ensure compliance with all FDA, ISO, and internal GMP requirements, partnering with QA/RA and audit teams as needed.

On Your First Day We’d Like You To Have
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related scientific discipline or equivalent with significant Diagnostic industry experience.
- Minimum 8–10 years of experience in strategic sourcing, preferably within diagnostics, biotech, or life sciences industries.
It’s Great If You Have
- Demonstrated success in managing complex supplier ecosystems for critical reagents and custom chemicals in regulated environments.
- Strong contract negotiation skills, with a solid understanding of IP, quality, and regulatory clauses.
- Experience working in FDA-regulated environments and familiarity with cGMP, ISO 13485, and QSR requirements.
- Proven leadership and influencing skills across global cross-functional teams.
- Ability to lead with a strategic mindset while executing tactical initiatives with precision.
- Driven by opportunities to enhance product performance and reduce total unit cost through strategic sourcing initiatives.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to present to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
Salary Range
- $130,000 - $180,000 (salary range for candidates based in San Jose, CA)
- Compensation for the role is based on geographical location.
- Compensation also depends on a number of factors including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
