About Visby
Visby Medical is an ambitious, well-funded late-stage biotech startup. Driven by a belief that infectious disease diagnosis should be quick, accurate, and accessible to all, Visby has developed the world’s first single-use PCR platform that disrupts the traditional model and redefines the way infectious disease is tested and treated.
About the Role
At Visby Medical, the Materials Planner, NPI & Sustaining plays a critical role in managing material readiness and planning activities across all phases of the product lifecycle from early feasibility through commercialization and ongoing production. This role integrates ERP-driven planning with offline tracking methods to ensure materials are available, compliant, and aligned with build requirements across clinical, pilot, and commercial programs.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- ERP/MRP System & Data Management
- Maintain accurate MRP planning parameters including lead times, lot sizes, and safety stock within the ERP system.
- Monitor and resolve MRP exceptions and proactively address material shortages.
- Ensure BOM accuracy, revision control, and real-time alignment with product configuration data.
- Support planning system updates and alignments tied to ECOs, PCNs, and change control processes.
- Demonstrate advanced proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) to manage BOMs, routing, and traceability.
- Utilize advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, VLOOKUP, forecasting models); Power BI or Tableau experience is a plus.
- Use PLM systems (i.e. Arena, Agile) to manage BOM structures, track change control, and support compliance in collaboration with Regulatory and Quality teams.
- Production & Inventory Planning
- Translate the Master Production Schedule (MPS) into actionable, phase-specific material plans.
- Ensure timely availability of all materials to support internal and external building schedules.
- Optimize material release timing to avoid both shortages and excess inventory.
- Continuously monitor inventory health and flag potential risks for early mitigation.
- Maintain appropriate safety levels, reorder points, and lead times to support demand while minimizing excess and obsolescence.
- Ensure compliance with traceability, lot control, and expiration requirements under GMP and ISO 13485 standards.
- NPI Planning & Execution
- Develop and manage material readiness plans across all NPI phases: Pre-DVT, DVT, Prototype, PPQ, pilot and launch.
- Collaborate with Engineering, R&D, and Program Management to forecast demand, create preliminary BOMs, and initiate offline tracking during early product phases.
- Create and manage build plans; track BOM revisions, engineering constraints, and supplier ramp-up needs with NPI buyers.
- Perform clear-to-build reviews and release production orders based on inventory, BOM structure, and revision status.
- Validate and release Sales BOMs, Manufacturing BOM Rev A promotions, and Distribution strategy to support commercialization.
- Coordinate early access and pilot inventory staging strategies with Marketing and Customer Service.
- Collaboration, Communication & Reporting
- Lead cross-functional monthly Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) meetings to align forecasts, build plans, and supply strategies.
- Develop planning dashboards, offline trackers, and reports to provide visibility into inventory health and material readiness.
- Act as the central planning contact across Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, Procurement, and Program Management.
- Represent planning in cross-functional meetings and proactively communicate material risks.
On Your First Day We’d Like You to Have
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in material planning with direct involvement in both NPI and sustaining production in FDA-regulated or ISO 13485 environments.
- Advanced proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (i.e. SAP, Oracle, NetSuite), including configuration and implementation experience.
- Advanced Excel expertise, including complex formulas, PivotTables, data validation, and offline planning models.
- Proven expertise in managing NPI projects from concept through launch, including the development of offline material tracking processes to support pre-commercial build phases.
- Strong knowledge of GMP, FDA QSR, ISO 13485, and related compliance documentation practices.
- Demonstrated success in cross-functional collaboration and clear-to-build execution across all product lifecycle phases.
